News Corp., Scripps Networks, Akku Lenovo thinkpad T500 and Viacom claim the free TWCable TV for iPad app represents a contract violation and have told Time Warner to stop streaming their channels because it’s not covered under the current licensing agreement. Apparently, wanting to take that episode of The Daily Show into the bathroom should command a premium on top of the $75 subscribers already pay per month on average for TV. And did I mention that to get this app you also need to be paying for Internet service? Between cable Akku Lenovo thinkpad T400 and Internet, I fork over $173 per month. How many times should we have to pony up for the same content viewed at the same address? Um, how about once?!

For now, the Time Warner app only streams live TV, but the cable provider promises to add support for video on demand and the ability to set your DVR on the go. Streaming DVR playback could be an option down the road, but not right now. According to The New York Times, Cablevision’s upcoming app will be much more robust (read: threatening), transplanting “every existing channel Akku Lenovo thinkpad T410 and video-on-demand option to the iPad.” Variety says Cablevision’s app will also let subscribers access content stored on their DVRs. Verizon and Comcast are also working on streaming apps for the iPad, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they put those efforts on hold when Time Warner gets taken to court.

If cable and TV providers attempt to make such services mobile to extend beyond your abode, they could seriously erode revenue from premium services such as Amazon, Hulu Plus, iTunes, Akku Lenovo thinkpad T61 and Netflix, which, in turn, could impact the bottom lines of movie and TV studios. But the way Time Warner sees it, its app is a way of keeping the money flowing to the channel owners at a time when more customers are contemplating cutting the cord. I agree, but I’m not willing to pay more for this convenience within the home. If cable Akku Lenovo thinkpad R61 and satellite providers want to tack on a true portability tax, similar to what MLB does, then I might be willing to pay a little extra.

In other licensing disagreement news, this week Amazon ruffled more than a few feathers in the music biz by rolling out a new digital locker service. Users can upload tracks they’ve purchased Akku Lenovo thinkpad R60 and then stream them via the new Amazon Cloud Player for web or Android. You get 5GB of storage for free, but if you purchase an album from Amazon MP3, that allotment gets bumped to 20GB. What’s the big deal? Amazon didn’t secure additional music licenses (money) from the music labels. I’m not a legal expert, but I don’t understand why more licenses would be required for something I already own.

This is what Amazon told paidContent: “We do not need a license to store music in Cloud Drive. The functionality of saving MP3s to Cloud Drive is the same as if a customer were to save their music to an external hard drive or even iTunes.” The labels see things differently, of course. That’s because users can re-download tracks to multiple devices without any additional charges. Meanwhile, both Apple Akku Lenovo thinkpad T60 and Google are reportedly readying music locker services of their own, and word is that at least Apple is negotiating to obtain additional licenses.

Google To Tighten Control Over Android Juggernaut

Folks have lamented the dangers of Android fragmentation
for years, Akku Lenovo thinkpad T60P and Google seems to be doing something about it. First, it was the move to delay the Honeycomb source code release to developers, and now Google sources close to Business Week say the company is enforcing “non-fragmentation” partnership clauses to put the kibosh on unauthorized Android tweaks.

Understandably this has manufacturers Akku Lenovo thinkpad R60E and software companies hot and bothered, with even Facebook allegedly confirming complaints to Google about its micromanaged oversight of a rumored Facebook handset running on Android
.

Fears of lax Google policing of Android are justified, especially with malware lurking within its app market, Akku Lenovo thinkpad R61I which forced the company to take action. Still, despite all the fuss over who gets hands on time with Android’s innards ahead of release, there are success stories, such as the HTC Sense UI, which has some nice features to offer. Still, some folks prefer a clean Android smart phone experience. We’ll have to see how it all shakes out in the coming weeks.

Ports

You'll find the few ports on the Series 9 along the edges, rolled up into little pull-down drawers so as not to mar the elegant lines. Pull down the left drawer to access a Gigabit Ethernet port (an adapter is included), mini HDMI, hp elitebook 8740w battery and (chargeable) USB 3.0 port. Pull down the right side drawer for a combo headphone/mic jack, USB 2.0 port, and a microSD card slot. (We'd prefer a full-size one.) The curve on the back edges house the power jack on the left and a lock slot on the right.

Touchpad

The touchpad on the 13-inch Series 9 is just a bit smaller than the MacBook Air's (3.9 x 2.7 vs. 4.3 x 3 inches) but it offers a smooth, matte surface free of friction. It's one of the closest in both feel hp elitebook 8540p battery and functionality to Apple's touchpads, but it does have some drawbacks.

toshiba pa3356u-1bas battery who use touchpads with two hands may find it frustrating that the Series 9 sometimes mistakes leaving one finger on the bottom left click area for a desire to activate a multitouch gesture, such as zoom. Plus, the cursor sometimes jumped around when we had a finger resting there. We rarely, if ever, encounter these issues with MacBooks. But if you use one hand to navigate you won't have this problem.

The gestures available on the 13-inch Series 9 go beyond the standard two-finger scroll toshiba pa3356u-1brs battery and pinch/zoom found on many Windows notebooks. There's a three-finger flick for navigating within apps such as the photo viewer and browser. The four-finger gestures further attempt to mimic Mac OS X functionality: Swipe down to minimize everything and view the desktop and swipe up to activate the Aero 3D window manager. Swiping right presents a simple box listing all programs hp presario cq72 battery and windows, while swiping left toggles back and forth between the last two open windows.

Design

The Series 9 is a beautifully crafted machine. It's made mostly from a metal called duralumin, which up until now has only been used in aircraft construction. Samsung claims it's twice as strong as aluminum, Lenovo ideapad u550 battery and at 2.88 pounds, it does feel a hair lighter than the closest competition, the MacBook Air (2.9). Not only is it light, the Series 9 feels sturdier than the Air, especially if you pick it up by its corner. We also noted that the hinge is less fluid on the Series 9. You may not be able to open the lid with just one finger, but the display won't flop back when you carry it, either.

Unlike the Air, the Series 9 isn't all metal on the outside. Some pieces of the deck hp envy 17 battery and the base of the display connected to the hinge are high-grade, glossy plastic. It melds well with the duralumin style-wise, but is prone to fingerprint smudges in some areas.

Both notebooks are about the same size--12.9 x 8.9 x 0.62-0.64 inches (Series 9) and 12.8 x 8.9 x 0.11-0.68 inches (Air)--though Samsung managed to make its offering a bit slimmer at its thickest point while still adding a dash of flair. Unlike the Air, the edges don't taper in a straight line, but include a little arch hp g72 battery and curve reminiscent of the wave design found on the Samsung NF310 and SF510.

Under the hood, aesthetic similarities to the MacBook Air abound, including an island-style keyboard hp g62 battery and large touchpad, which might be mistaken for Apple's design work if they weren't in black. Though the design is minimalist, Samsung included a few extra touches, such as blue LED indicators in the keyboard and on the deck as well as the chrome-outlined power button on the upper right.

Beyond the actual notebook, Samsung also paid close attention to how the Series 9 is packaged. The box is also minimalist but elegant, right away giving owners the feeling they've purchased something high-end. NAND Flash and Value

The SSD 320 is the first Intel drive to use 25-nanometer NAND Flash, a significant die shrink over the 34nm memory used in the X25-M. With the smaller dies, Intel saves money on production costs, savings the company says it is passing along to consumers VGP-BPS13 and OEMs.

The drive comes in capacities of 40, 80, 120, 160, 300, VGP-BPS13A/Q and 600GB with Intel prices of $89, $159, $209, $289, $529, and $1,069, respectively. Those prices are roughly in line with the street prices of competitors such as the OCZ Vertex 2 ($209 for the 120GB) and the Samsung 470 Series ($249 for 128GB, $499 for 256GB). However, if retailers offer any discounts off of Intel's prices, the SSD 320 could be a huge bargain

Technology and Features

With the launch of the SSD 320, Intel has updated its controller, with the goal of dramatically improving performance, particularly write speeds. However, the drive does not take advantage of the new SATA 6Gb/s interface that just become available on notebooks for the first time with the release of Intel's 2nd Generation Core Series processors VGP-BPS13A/B and chipsets in January 2011. This means that the SSD 320 will work with these newer notebooks, but it won't achieve the groundbreaking speeds of Intel's new SSD 510 (starting at $369 for 120GB). That drive is designed specifically for SATA 6Gb/s and promises speeds nearly twice those of the SSD 310.

In addition to faster performance, the SSD 310 offers improved security VGP-BPS13/B and reliability. Out of the box, the drive supports 128-bit AES encryption, allowing you to set a password for the drive that will prevent its data from being accessed if its ever stolen. It also keeps your data saved, even in the event that your computer loses power before it has a chance to shut down and clear the drive's cache.

Synthetic Tests

To get a baseline idea of what to expect we ran the SSD 310 through CrystalDiskMark 3.1, a synthetic benchmark that measures theoretical read VGP-BPS13B/B and write performance. However, before testing, Intel warned us that a theoretical test such as CrystalDiskMark might not show off the drive's best write performance because it doesn't "exercise the device long enough to reach its steady state."

Verdict

The Intel SSD 320 returns Intel to its rightful place amongst the performance leaders in the mainstream SSD category. Though the drive trailed competitors from Samsung, OCZ, VGP-BPS13B/Q and Crucial on many of our tests, it was usually within just a few milliseconds of the leader. Whether you're buying the drive as an upgrade or getting a brand new notebook with an Intel SSD 320 inside, you can buy with the confidence that that you're getting a fast performer that's comparable to the best SATA 3Gb/s drives on the market.

If your notebook is one of the new systems that has SATA 6Gb/s ports, you should definitely choose a drive like the Intel SSD 510 or OCZ Vertex 3 that takes full advanage of that interface. If you are shopping for a mainstream SSD upgrade, the Samsung 470 series offers slightly better overall performance, but the Intel SSD 320 should be near the top of your list because of its strong combination of security, reliability, VGP-BPS13A/S and performance.

One of the unspoken truths of computing is that even power users often forget to do backups on the road

Technology blog M.I.C. Gadget stumbled upon a prototype iPhone 4 with HP Pavilion DM4 Battery a whopping 64GB storage capacity. According to the website’s source, the device is a direct leak from Foxconn, Apple’s Shenzhen-based product manufacturer, and the supplier, whoever it may be, has a “small quantity” of the phones.

Similarities to the iPhone 4 purchased HP Pavilion DM4T Battery and leaked by Gizmodo last year seems to support that claim. Both devices are labeled with the same vague information: the model number is listed as “XXXXX”, the FCC ID is “BCG-AXXXXX”, and the size is listed as “XXGB”. Also, both prototypes are missing “+” and “-” marks on the volume buttons and both feature a back-facing camera sans a silver ring that’s present on other models.

But likenesses aside, the odds of finding a 64GB iPhone 4 at your local Apple store are slim. Macrumors.com traced the the prototype’s latitude e6510 battery serial number and found that it was produced in early 2010. It’s likely that Apple had a few 64GB iPhone 4 engineering samples whipped up as a trial run, but never intended them for release.

Fans of webOS, listen up: At a company event in Bangalore, HP CEO Leo Apotheker announced that the company will ship all PCs with webOS starting in 2012.

Starting in 2010, Apotheker said, all HP PCs will offer a dual-boot solution, meaning those latitude e6410 battery who prefer Windows will still be able to load their OS of choice.

HP acquired Palm (the company behind webOS) for $1.2 billion in April 2010. The decision to load webOS on its PCs marks the company’s push to broaden the platform’s appeal and increase market share. According to Apotheker, HP hopes to create incentive for developers to design software for webOS.

You can't take it with you - at least, not if your backup latitude e5510 battery drive is a massive beast that weighs 10 pounds. These highly portable, high capacity thumbdrives offer faster and more secure backup than uploading to the cloud, plus they're packed with innovative features like fingerprint readers, one-touch backup, and super fast USB 3.0 transfers.

Perhaps the best feature? There's no Internet connection needed to access your data later, so it's ridiculously easy to transfer your media between your laptops.

At 0.48 ounces, the 8GB SanDisk Ultra Backup is the lightest of the USB drives we recently tested. It's also the least stylish; its latitude e5410 battery all-black design looks a bit dated. At 2.9 inches long, the Ultra Backup stuck out a full finger's width longer than the Lexar MX drive, making it a little more obtrusive when connected to a laptop. Still, it's about the same length as the Patriot Memory Supersonic.

Even if the Ultra Backup looks a bit staid, it has a unique backup button on top that worked remarkably inspiron 1440 battery well. Also, an activity light on the drive helps you see what is happening; during backup or file transfer, the light flashes quickly. In a ready state, the light stays steady.

The Ultra Backup comes with same Dmailer app that comes latitude e5500 battery with the Lexar MX drive, but it worked well and setup only took five minutes. While you can set the app to automatically back up files, you can also just press the backup button on the drive; it's so easy that you may find yourself clicking the backup button even as you work, saving the latest version of a Word doc or a recent iTunes download.

Unfortunately, the SanDisk Ultra Backup was the slowest drive of the bunch when it came to copying large amounts of files. When we latitude e6400 battery transferred 5GB of media files and Word documents to the drive, it took a long 8 minutes 41 seconds, which equals a write speed of just 9.8 MBps. That's two and a half minutes longer than the next slowest drive, the Lexar Echo MX (6:08, 13.9 MBps). If you're looking for fast transfers, the USB 3.0-powered Patriot Memory Supersonic blows all of these drives away with a latitude e6500 battery write speed of 41.3 MBps.

Likewise, copying those same files from the SanDisk to a latitude e4300 battery notebook took 4:45 (a read speed of 18 MBps), about 40 seconds longer than the next slowest drive, the Imation Defender F200 (4:07, 20.7 MBps). The Patriot Memory drive took just 55 seconds, a rate of 93.1 Sony Laptop Battery MBps.

Not only does the 8GB SanDisk Drive offer a relatively small amount of storage space, but it also doesn't laptopbatterymag.com offer the best value. The 8GB version we tested normally retails for $45, but was on sale for $30. That's $3.75 per GB, which isn't bad, but the Patriot Memory drive costs $210 for 64GB, which comes to $3.30 per GB. SanDisk also offers the drive in a 64GB capacity for $202, which gives you the best value. There are also 16GB ($75) and 32GB HP/Compaq Laptop Battery ($113) versions available.

In my opinion, most people have laptop, and they want to choose a good VGP-BPS9/S battery for their laptops. They want to know how to extend their battery life

Laptops tend to lose their charm quickly when you’re constantly looking for the nearest power outlet to charge up. How do you keep your battery going for as long as possible? Here are 15 easy ways to do so.

1. Defrag regularly - The faster your hard drive does its work – less demand you are going to put on the hard drive and your VGP-BPS9A/B battery. Make your hard drive as efficient as possible by defragging it regularly. (but not while it’s on battery of course!) Mac OSX is better built to handle fragmentation so it may not be very applicable for Apple systems.

2. Dim your screen – Most laptops come with the ability to dim your laptop screen. Some even come with ways to modify CPU and cooling performance. Cut them down to the lowest level you can tolerate to squeeze out some extra battery juice.

3. Cut down on programs running in the background. Itunes, Desktop Search, etc. All these add to the CPU load and cut down battery life. Shut down everything that isn’t crucial when you’re on VGP-BPS9/B battery.

4. Keep operating temperature down - Your laptop VGP-BPS9 operates more efficiently when it’s cooler. Clean out your air vents with a cloth or keyboard cleaner, or refer to some extra tips by LapTopMag.com.

5. Set up and optimize your power options – Go to ‘Power Options’ in your windows control panel and set it up so that power usage is optimized (Select the ‘max battery’ for maximum effect).

6. Don’t multitask – Do one thing at a time when you’re on battery. Rather than working on a spreadsheet, letting your email client run in the background and listening to your latest set of MP3′s, set your mind to one thing only. If you don’t you’ll only drain out your VGP-BPS13 batteries before anything gets completed!

7. Go easy on the PC demands – The more you demand from your PC. Passive activities like email and word processing consume much less power than gaming or playing a DVD. If you’ve got a single VGP-BPS13A/B battery charge – pick your priorities wisely.

8. Get yourself a more efficient laptop - Laptops are getting more and more efficient in nature to the point where some manufacturers are talking about all day long vgp-bps13b/q batteries. Picking up a newer more efficient laptop to replace an aging one is usually a quick fix.

9. Cut down external devices – USB devices (including your mouse) & WiFi drain down your laptop vgp-bps13a/q battery. Remove or shut them down when not in use. It goes without saying that charging other devices (like your iPod) with your laptop when on battery is a surefire way of quickly wiping out the charge on your laptop battery.

10. Add more RAM - This will allow you to process more with the memory your laptop has, rather than relying on virtual memory. Virtual memory results in hard drive use, and is much less power efficient. Note that adding more RAM will consume more energy, so this is most applicable if you do need to run memory intensive programs which actually require heavy usage of virtual memory.

11. Run off a hard drive rather than CD/DVD - As power consuming as hard drives are, CD and DVD drives are worse. Even having one in the drive can be power consuming. They spin, taking power, even when they?re not actively being used. Wherever possible, try to run on virtual drives using programs like Alcohol 120% rather than optical ones.

12. Keep the battery contacts clean: Clean your vgp-bps13/q battery’s metal contacts every couple of months with a cloth moistened with rubbing alcohol. This keeps the transfer of power from your battery more efficient.

13. Take care of your vgp-bps13/b battery – Exercise the Battery. Do not leave a charged battery dormant for long periods of time. Once charged, you should at least use the battery at least once every two to three weeks. Also, do not let a Li-On battery completely discharge. (Discharing is only for older batteries with memory effects)

14. Hibernate not standby – Although placing a laptop in standby mode saves some power and you can instantly resume where you left off, it doesn’t save anywhere as much power as the hibernate function does. Hibernating a PC will actually save your PC’s state as it is, and completely shut itself down.

15. Prevent the Memory Effect - If you’re using a very old laptop, you’ll want to prevent the ‘memory effect’ – Keep the vgp-bps13s battery healthy by fully charging and then fully discharging it at least once every two to three weeks. Exceptions to the rule are Li-Ion batteries (which most laptops have) vgp-bps13/s which do not suffer from the memory effect.

If you need a new battery, but do not know where to buy your vgp-bps13a/s battery, I can give you some recommend.
